Pick Up Your Rope

The Art of Resourceful Resilience

A modular keynote built around the roadblock your people are actually facing, with an opening that adapts to fit the room.

The Opening

Bringing Authentic Western Entertainment and Cowboy Grit to the Keynote Stage

When it fits, Kristen opens with high energy trick roping and theatrical storytelling from her decade as a professional train robber. Other rooms call for a quieter start, just her voice and a story. From there, the keynote moves into the modules built for your event.

Signature Story · About 20 Minutes

Pick Up the Rope

Kristen's core story, from fifth grade to college. Picking up the rope is the metaphor at the center of it: whatever your audience needs to believe in to move forward, tailored specifically to your room.

Optional add-on: attendees receive their own rope and learn to spin it, each one stamped with a custom message on the handle, so the lesson travels home with them.

Best for: any audience that needs the full arc, not just a single lesson. Works as a standalone talk or as the throughline that ties every other module together.

Additional Modules

Pick the Modules That Fit Your Room

7 to 10 Minutes · Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Bigger Than the Bull

A lesson Kristen learned facing down a dangerous farm bull: borrow the size and confidence of who you're becoming before you feel ready for it. A live bullwhip-cracking demonstration puts the idea of taking up space right in front of your audience.

Best for: teams facing intimidating market changes, new competitors, or leadership transitions. Teaches people to silence self-doubt and claim their value before they feel ready on paper.

7 to 10 Minutes · Agility & Change Management

The Invisible Classroom

How Kristen taught herself an entire education out of a public library, and reverse-engineered her uncle's guitar compositions by ear in a single afternoon just by paying close attention. A live guitar performance shows how she breaks complex, chaotic problems into clean, repeatable patterns. This module can pair with an optional drawing or music workshop add-on for a more hands-on session.

Best for: industries undergoing rapid change or digital transformation. Teaches teams to become proactive learners who adapt swiftly when there is no handbook.

7 to 10 Minutes · Facing Fear & Self-Advocacy

Find Your Brave

The story of learning to stand up for herself, after years of convincing herself that doing so was too terrifying, even as that fear kept her from living her own life. Facing it head-on led to Kristen's signature song, and eventually to her speaking career and children's books that have reached thousands of people. The module closes with Kristen singing that song live.

Best for: teams or individuals who know what they need to say or do, but are stuck behind fear of the consequences. Teaches people that bravery isn't the absence of fear, it's action taken despite it.

7 to 10 Minutes · Burnout & Self-Worth

The Weight of the Herd

Managing a herd of 130 head of cattle on a dying farm, doing everything right and watching it fail anyway, because the story Kristen told herself had made her job success her entire identity. Every setback landed as a personal failure, until it burned her out to the point of PTSD and a self-image that took years to rebuild. Music, art, and her rope become the tools she uses to illustrate how to reset what defines self-worth when things aren't going well.

Best for: teams or individuals whose sense of worth has become tangled up with outcomes they can't fully control. Teaches people to separate their identity from results, especially when those results are shaped by forces outside their power.
